About Amherst Junction

Pavement care for Amherst Junction properties

The village was created when the railroad came through the county, at the junction of the Wisconsin Central and the Green Bay and Lake Pepin lines. Until 1875 it was called Groversburg, and it became Amherst Junction when its post office opened that year. The village was incorporated in 1911, and by 1914 it was an important buying and shipping center for potatoes. The Summit House hotel, built around 1872, was a popular place to stay, eat and dance until it was taken down in 1939.

Asphalt wears down from sun, water and winter weather. Filling cracks early keeps water out of the base, and a protective coat slows the wear. A fresh sealcoat every two to three years suits most driveways.
