About Stevens Point

Pavement care for Stevens Point properties

Stevens Point was incorporated in 1858 and is home to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a campus of Mid-State Technical College. It was named for George Stevens, who ran a grocery and supply business on the Wisconsin River during the heavy logging of the area. Loggers found the bend in the river a convenient stopping place. The post office opened in 1845, and the first plat of the city, with its Public Square, was laid out in 1847.

Small cracks turn into bigger repairs when water gets in and freezes. Fixing them early, then sealing the surface, is the plain way to make asphalt last. Most driveways do best with a new coat every two to three years.
