About Gays Mills
Pavement care for Gays Mills properties
In 1847 James B. Gay built a dam and a sawmill on the Kickapoo River, and his brothers John and Thomas soon joined him. The community took the name Gays Mills in their honor. The Twining family grew apples there and took them to a World's Fair, and a historical marker on a hill above the village honors them. Orchards still surround the village, and the First Congregational Church, organized in 1872, finished its building in 1898.
Small cracks turn into bigger repairs when water gets in and freezes. Fixing them early, then sealing the surface, is the plain way to make asphalt last. Most driveways do best with a new coat every two to three years.
