About Tunnel City
Pavement care for Tunnel City properties
The first tunnel was built by the La Crosse and Milwaukee Railroad and finished in 1858 as the last piece of the route from Milwaukee to La Crosse. The station was simply called Tunnel. It was updated in 1861 and replaced by another tunnel just north of it in 1874. The Canadian Pacific Railway now owns that line, and in 1993 the bore was raised 14 inches for double-stack freight. A third tunnel, built in 1910 for the Chicago and North Western, collapsed in March 1973 after an extra heavy snow on saturated ground. The 2020 census counted 100 residents.
A very small railroad community has a few homes and rural properties, so driveways are the main job. Heavy snow on saturated ground is exactly the kind of weather that breaks up a worn driveway edge, which is why we patch edges and fill cracks before sealing.

What we do
Services for Tunnel City homes and businesses
Most calls from Tunnel City are for driveways: a first or repeat sealcoat, crack filling before it, a patch where an edge has broken down, or a gravel drive that needs fresh material and grading. For businesses in Tunnel City we handle the whole lot together: repairs, crack filling, sealcoating and fresh line striping, so stalls, fire lanes and crosswalks look right once the work is done.

Sealer needs dry pavement and mild weather to cure, so we plan each job around the forecast and tell you how long to keep cars off. Good timing matters: pavement has to be clean, dry and above the temperature the sealer calls for. We pick the day and talk through it with you before we start.
