About Montfort
Pavement care for Montfort properties
Montfort was named for an old fort on a nearby hill. The village site was platted on April 3, 1848, by Ben C. Eastman and Francis J. Dunn. It stayed an unincorporated settlement until it became a village in 1893, and it stayed small until the first railroad arrived in 1879. Today the Wisconsin Farmers Union Specialty Cheese Company in Montfort produces Montforte Blue Cheese.
Asphalt wears down from sun, water and winter weather. Filling cracks early keeps water out of the base, and a protective coat slows the wear. A fresh sealcoat every two to three years suits most driveways.
