About Beaver Dam
Pavement care for Beaver Dam properties
Thomas Mackie and Joseph Goetschius first settled the area in 1841, and by 1843 it had almost 100 residents. The city is named for an old beaver dam on a stream flowing into the Beaver Dam River. The area was also known as Okwaanim, a Chippewa word for beaver dam. Beaver Dam was incorporated as a city in 1856, the same year the Milwaukee Railroad arrived.
Small cracks turn into bigger repairs when water gets in and freezes. Fixing them early, then sealing the surface, is the plain way to make asphalt last. Most driveways do best with a new coat every two to three years.
